The island, formerly known as Little San Salvador , was bought by Holland America (Carnival’s subsidiary line) in 1996 for 6 million dollars and is 2400 acres large. A beautiful tropical island with a 2-mile stretch of white sand that curves outward on each end, forming a sort of half-moon: this is where the name of Half Moon Bay Cay comes from.
Half Moon Bay Cay is one of the 700 islands that make up the Bahamas archipelago , is located about 160 kilometers south-east of Nassau and is inserted between Cat Island and the island of Eleuthera. There is not enough depth around the coasts to dock, so to access them you need to get there only by special ships.

One of the island’s strengths is its natural beauty: its 2350 acres are all a succession of territories to explore, and of nature trails along suggestive sand paths.
